Morgie's 6th Birthday Party

I just realized that I never posted anything about Morgie's party!! She had her first "friend" party this year (on Dec 15) and was thoroughly thrilled about it. Plus, she had it at the place where she takes gymnastics, so she was treated like a queen by all the teachers who knew her already, and she was already skilled at all the things everyone got to do. She had a blast. Here is a pic of her teacher from school, who comes to every kid's party, and even sets up movie dates and other events on random weekends. I thought, she must be single, but nooo, she is 40 and has 3 kids!! That is a dedicated kindergarten teacher!

Finally, this was really cool. All the kids and teachers at the party surrounded the parachute thingy while Morgan sat in the center, then they lifted her up! Isn't that cool!

Christmas 2010

We had a great Christmas, partially because the mystery of why Jacob wanted a GPS was finally solved.  This happened when he opened his Nintendo DS that I was totally excited about because I had told him he wasn't getting one since they are so expensive but then found out you can buy them used at Gamestop for only $45!!! But here is the order in which the GPS mystery unfolded over the month of December:  Jacob asks for a Nintendo DS. I look around and see that the cheapest one is $130 (I am sorry but it is my opinion a 6 year does not need a $130 toy). I tell him that if I get him one, he will not get any other presents. He decides he doesn't want the DS (good choice son). Then I find out about buying them used (sweeeet). All of a sudden Jacob is telling everyone, including Santa, that he wants a GPS.  I assume that he is trying to tell Santa to get him a DS and attempt to explain what a GPS is. He already knows, duh, it tells you where to go when you are lost. Okaaaaaay. He continues to tell people that he wants a GPS. On Christmas day, when he opens his DS (remember, I am super excited), he says, "I told you, I know the difference between a DS and a GPS, and I wanted a GPS." Taking a couple of deep breaths because he is just 6, I say, "Jacob, you don't need a GPS because you don't have a car to put it in."  He replies, "I know that, I was going to save it for when I turn 16!"  Such a planner. So I tell him, "When you turn 16, if you buy yourself a car, I will buy you a GPS."  "Oh, great! Thanks mom!"  Then turns around and begins playing with the DS. Mystery solved! Still a little confused about the whole thing, but all's well that ends well!

Finally, another big thing Jacob wanted was this huge Star Wars Lego kit. Yes, there are 1,170 pieces and 2 instruction books.

It is just crazy to me that my child, who I just gave birth to yesterday it seems, is putting together a 1,170 piece lego ship that has a total of 120 pages of instructions. Wow.

The real reason I haven't folded the laundry...

...is because I wanted my dogs to comfortable! Yea, that's it!

Sweet Nothings

Yesterday Jon took Jacob Christmas shopping for me. Of course, Jacob felt strongly about my "need" for certain toys, so Jon had to suggest more suitable items.  When he suggested perfume, Jacob answered, "Why? I already like the way she smells."  Love it.

Jacob's class Christmas Party

Jacob had a great time at the class party. Even though the food that was brought in was onion dip, sour cream and onion chips, and grapes (just not sure about our room mother's taste...) He especially enjoyed the fact that he was in the spotlight because we made treat bags with sonic goodies for each kid. I got lots of hugs that day ;) Here are pics of the kids doing the "Reindeer Pokey." Very cute. Their teacher, if you notice, is not much taller than them. Which I would assume is actually more comfortable because whenever I am in the room amongst the kids, I feel like the star of Gulliver's Travels.

These pics can only be seen here!! (Abby forbid me to post them on FB, but she didn't mention my blog hehe). At our house we have a night where we decorate cookies and then each person picks their fave one from the bunch to put on Santa's plate. Hallie's new boyfriend got to join in the festivities this year, so I am sure that he feels his life is now complete.

Then, after that, we all get to open one present. But it has become tradition that this present is new PJs (I started this when Hallie and Abby were little to torture them ;)  But now they love it of course. Jacob was a little perturbed, but he will live.

Jon and Josh did also get PJs but they refused to put them on and be in the picture. Party poopers.

Oh! I almost forgot! This year we added one more festive activity to the party! Eyebrow plucking!! Thank goodness we have our own esthetician with a traveling wax pot to make us beautiful for the holidays!!

We are nerds

One of my and Jake's fave things to do is hang out in the bookstore. We don't even have to buy anything. We just love to hang out. Sad, I know. I literally have to set a timer on my phone or Jacob will stay there all day. Love it!!

Does it get any better?

Jacob's Christmas list for 2010, and other Christmas stuff

So when asked what he wants for Christmas, Jacob will tell you a "GPS."  You might respond by asking, "you mean a Nintendo DS?" "No," he will say, "a GPS."  I have explained what a GPS is to him, but that is what he insists that he wants. A female friend of his wants an electric scooter so her mother and I decided that Jacob can ride with her and help navigate :)

The other two things on the list are transformer and star wars figure.  I love how he spells things by sound right now, so cute. And isn't that how all words should be spelled anyway?!

We have also been busy decorating the tree and making a gingerbread house. Of course, we broke out the newly appointed "All Holiday" tie-dye shirt (formerly known as just the Thanksgiving tie-dye shirt) to properly take care of these tasks.
