End of the School Year

One of the kitchen ladies retired at the end of the year.  She was the one who mainly washed the dishes.  Throughout lunch, we have the students pour any leftover drinks into a big bucket so that they don't leak in the garbage cans.  At the end of the lunches, I was supposed to hand the bucket to Judy (the lady who retired) so she can wash it out.  Except that I ALWAYS forgot to.  So she always had to yell, "Give me the bucket please!"  So naturally, I got her a smaller version of the bucket, filled it with goodies, and used letters to spell out "Give me the bucket!" and gave it to her for a retirement gift.

So there is a lady who makes these home made cinnamon rolls.  And she gave me this whole pan.  And now I lover her more than anyone in the whole world. Jon might also...

The 5th graders have a "dance" on the next to last day of school.  A term I use very lightly.  The girls just stood around giggling, and the boys chased each other with the balloons.

There was a photo booth as well, with props....

I was trying to get him to take a pic with me....
Above we have the boys chasing each other as I mentioned... Below we have the girls calmly talking to each other.

Field day.  Jacob looking exceptionally thrilled that the two girls joined the pic.

For teacher appreciation week, a mom brought me these flowers.

And a few students sent me these.  It was really sweet.

Last day of our elementary walking group.  We are actually missing a couple here.  I will miss this a lot!
There was a luncheon for the kids and their parents.  Jacob is just doing his 11 year old boy thing.

Then the kids had to get up and sing and DANCE to a song from Grease:  We Go Together.  Jacob was TICKED OFF.  I have to say I don't blame him.  It was kind of ridiculous.  Above, you can see him just standing there, not moving.

This is his friend Alex, also not moving.

And his friend Michael, not moving.  Actually, most of the boys did not move.  I mean, really? Dance and sing to a Grease song??

 Tacky day.

I walked out of the dance and the 3 grade was out on the lawn signing year books.  I was asked to sign a lot of them.  I signed things with the cafeteria rules, haha, but I also personalized some of the more, um, familiar students with things like, "It's summer break, go fill your own water bottle" and "no it is not okay to smash your apple up to try to make apple sauce and then suck it up through a straw."

The 5th grade also has a volleyball tournament.  The kid in mostly black is Jacob's friend Beau.

 Jacob is serving.

Jacob is sitting in that top row with his friends being goofy.  He's in the white t-shirt.

I circle many things in this pic.  First, the circle around the basketball goal is the ball, which Jacob had just returned back over the net.  You can see his legs in the circle directly below that one.  All the little circles are showing the boys' knee pads.  The trendy thing this year was to get basketball knee pads to play in.  And all the boys decided they would wear them for the volleyball game.  It was pretty funny.

Walking home the last day!!
