Halloween

We went to a festival where they played cheesy games, won cheesy prizes, and got about 6 pieces of candy.  My how times have changed.  But, Morgan was adorable as Katniss from Hunger Games (all the adults and teens recognized her-she had on a Mocking Jay pin, none of the kids did...), and Jacob was a football player.  With an upside down pumpkin bucket on his head.  Yep.

This was at one of the games for the people who lost the game I guess.  Morgan didn't even play.  Just wanted a pic.

They had just gone through the "Fear Factor" tent.  These were their scared faces.

Actual Halloween night.

Cool house.

Riding in the back of Uncle Mike's truck around the neighborhood.  Again, how times have changed.  I remember WALKING to go trick or treating...
 Another cool house.
One house was giving out Fruit By the Foot.  what on earth.

Their haul.  Which isn't a whole lot, you may notice.  This is because Jacob had 3 tests the next day, and Morgan had 5, so we didn't stay out long.  Apparently education reality hits in 3rd grade.

Oh, the rolling of Grammy's and Grandfather's house.  It was classic.
So it was all Michael's idea, and I was totally for it. We had to do it the night after Halloween bc of all the tests the kids had that day.  Abby randomly came over that night, and she was all excited because she has tried to roll a house 3 times with her friends, but has gotten caught each time.  But she did warn us that if something happened, she would leave us all.  She wasn't kidding.  We were in the middle of doing it and a light came on.  Michael turned and said, "Light! Jacob! Morgan! Abby! Where's Abby?"  And just like that, she was GONE.  But we all got away without getting caught.  My mom had woken up though, hence the light, and she called as we were driving away.  I convinced her that it wasn't me and Jake, mind you it did not even occur to her that Michael was involved (I have no idea how both of my parents always think of me first when disaster strikes).  She actually started saying she was scared then, so I felt bad and almost told her.  Almost.  This was the next day after it had rained and she had already picked up the mess from the porch.

Mom did end up calling Michael that night and asking.  When he told her he didn't do it either, she said, "Why would someone roll my house?"  He said, "Well, did you give out candy last night?"  She said, "Yes."  He asked, "Did you give out cheap, crappy candy?"  She said, "NO!" Like he was crazy for asking.  It was pretty funny, bc he was trying to convince her some random kids had done it bc they were mad at her for bad candy.
I give you exhibit A:  Cheap, crappy candy. This is literally what was left when we got there to clean up the mess.

Here is the video of us telling her about it.  Again, it was Michael's idea to wrap up a roll of toilet paper as a present.  And we really did miss Grandparents' Day.

  1. HAHAHAHAHA!!! That is the worst, cheap, crappy candy! Aunt Paula! How funny that Michael called her out on that. I LOVE the rolling. That will be one of their favorite childhood memories ever.

TESTS?!?! After Halloween? That should be illegal. That is really awful. Kids get maybe ten Halloweens that they actually care about (ages 3-13?), so cut them some slack one day a year! Ugh.

Morgan as Katniss is crazy awesome.

My favorite Halloweens were when we trick-or- treated with the cousins and then walked to Sonic for free ice cream if you were wearing a costume. I will always think of cousins on Halloween. :(
